Fortunately, Conquerors adds some spice to the standard single and multiplayer games by sprinkling in a mix of new races, units and technologies. New campaign games are all well and good, but let's face it, they don't add that much longevity. Unfortunately, the actors providing the voice-overs have once again all been hired from the Dick Van Dyke School of Crap Accents.

As before, the campaign games are strung together with a series of vignettes outlining the story in a "Meanwhile, back at the farm." kind of way. So this time you get to play with the likes of Attila the Hun and EL Cid. While the Age Of Kings campaigns focused very much on the underdog (William Wallace, Joan of Arc, et al), Conquerors turns its attention to some of history's more successful bullies. The most obvious addition, as you'd expect, is a set of four single-player campaigns.
As was the case with the Rise Of Rome expansion for the original Age Of Empires, Ensemble has packaged up a smorgasbord of enhancements and extras that will have seasoned fans salivating from the moment they read the box blurb. It would be wrong though to assume that this expansion CD is just more Age Of Kings campaigns given a bit of spit and polish. On the evidence of the beta version we received, The Conquerors sticks firmly to that tried and trusted formula. And, unlike some young RTS upstarts I could mention, it still has a healthy dose of resource management, which, believe it or not, some players still enjoy. It might only sport a tired old three-quarter isometric view, but then again you don't have to readapt your old flight-sim keyboard claw just so you can move the game camera and give orders at the same time. But let's face it, that's what gives this series its appeal. Not only does it look just like all the other dogs in the neighbourhood (no fancy 3D shenanigans from this beast), it's also somewhat predictable, and the last thing you'd expect it to do is learn any new tricks. You've enjoyed its company for a few years now and you've grown comfortable with it. I will as soon as I can try without skype but I doubt that will fix it since we have a stable network and pretty good computers but maybe it does matter for AoE, I don't know.The Age Of Empires series is becoming something of a trusty old dog. Probably it was this unknown problem that caused our OOS before but that is just my theory. So, it doesn't seem to be the same problem but obviously something is wrong with my brothers computer or some settings there. My brother was not fast enough to connect again (if it's even possible) so my game just ended and it said: You were dropped from the game. While this happend the game froze on my screen and a textmessage in-game came where it stood: problem communicating with "my bro's player name".

My brother's game suddenly just shut down and he got the typical windows message "Age of Empires have stopped working, you want to send a bugreport?" The result was Īgain about 100 minutes in to the game the game ended but this time a bit different. Now I've tested to play the game when both games are patched to 1.0c. dat files can cause this but as said, we have not changed anything.Ī big thanks in advance and I really hope someone can help me with this issue! Right know I can't think of some other things that causes this issue, I've read that changed information the the. *None of us has changed anything in the folders and we don't use trainers (I almost don't know what it is ).
*My brother uses Win XP and I use Win 7 but when it worked before, we also had that "setup". *Since we only used one CD to both computers, I doubt it's different information in the gamefolders. *We both have the same version 1.0b (same as when it worked). *It worked about 1 year ago but we both have updated our computers since then. Therefore I am hoping someone here can help me since AoE is such a classic and fun game! It feels like I've searched the entire internet for answers but often other people don't have the exactly same problem as I do. I use to play AoE with my brother LAN and about 40-100 minutes in to the game, we both get kicked at the same time and a box appears where it says: "You got dropped by the server because of sync error" or something like that. Like many others, I have this problem with sync error.
